2010
November 2010 This year we have extended our area of operation with contracts in Aldershot, Maidenhead, Woking and Reading
October 2010 Avis Construction was audited and awarded the new updated ISO 9001 : 2008 registration for the quality of its management system.
September 2010 Secured 2 new contracts.
August 2010 Renewed our insurances with Aviva Secured 2 new contracts.
July 2010 Secured 4 new contracts. We are receiving an average of 15 enquiries per month at the moment.
June 2010 Increased our workforce to 15 so in addition to our regular workforce of bricklayers, carpenters and ground workers we now have roofers and plasters
May 2010 Secured another two storey extension. Work appears to be picking up after the long hard winter.
March 2010 We have secured 3 new orders and now that the weather's improving we can get on with some work.
January & February 2010 The cold weather is delaying a lot of our work at the moment.

This year has continued to be a successful year for us, increasing our turnover again.
December 2009 December has been the coldest December for about 30 years, with deep snow causing major problems getting to our jobs and getting deliveries.
November 2009 Secured two contracts. November has been the wettest November on record and slowed many projects.

August 2009 The National Federation of Builders asked us to speak on Radio Berkshire about the economic climate and the effects it has on construction work.
Renewed our company insurances with Norwich union
July 2009 We are continuing to widen our area of work, winning contracts in Knaphill, Maidenhead, Basingstoke and Newbury.
Took on more staff to cope with the increased volume of work.
June 2009 Our records show that we are about 25% up on orders for this year compared with last year.
May2009 Advertised for more staff and had an overwhelming response.
April 2009 Despite the economic down turn, this year continues to be busy, our order book for the first quarter of this year exceeds that for the same period last year.
February 2009 Secured one of our largest orders to date to convert and extend an existing bungalow into a 4 bedroom house in Old Basing.

This year has continued to be a successful year for us, securing sixteen home extensions and several other projects.
December 2008 Received two more orders for work one in Bracknell and one in Crowthorne.

July 2008 Received order for work in Emmer Green. Despite the downturn in the economy we received a record number of enquiries this month resulting in ten estimates being prepared and sent out within a four week period.
June 2008 George Avis received his Diploma Certificate at an award Ceremony at the Chartered Institute of Building, Englemere Ascot in Berkshire.

April 2008 George Avis was elected a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, (MCIOB).
Chartered members are amongst the most highly regarded professionals working throughout the international construction industry. The highly regarded designations MCIOB and FCIOB are the marks of a true professional. Holders of the CIOB qualification are recognised throughout the industry as knowledgeable and competent in their field with a personal commitment to continual professional development.

March 2008 We were pleased to receive an e-mail from a prospective client letting us know that the information we sent about our company was “informative and professional”
February 2008 Successfully completed flood damage repairs at Sylvester Close, Winnersh, Wokingham for client who had to move out of their home due to the summer floods. We were pleased to be able to make these repairs and help them move back into their home after the devastation caused by the floods. This remedial work included replacement of plaster, doors, frames skirtings architraves, kitchen units and wall tiling.
We do not normally carry out remedial work or insurance work but we also built a two storey extension for this client.
January 2008 George Avis attended a Chartered Institute of Building workshop.

2007 A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone.
December 2007 George Avis awarded diplomas in surveying and construction from the College of Estate Management at Reading University. Modules taken included: Project and cost control, Maintenance Technology, Contract Procedures and Building Technology.

October 2007 FMB MasterBond inspectors inspected our work at 12 Sherwood Close Bracknell and approved it with flying colours
October 2007 Avis Construction was audited and again awarded ISO 9000 registration for the quality of its management system.
October 2007 Received e-mail from prospective client, thanking us for the detailed estimate they received, they said the detail was just what they needed and that they were surprised at just how little detail most builders gave.

May 2007 Received letter from FMB, the FSA are investigating their MasterBond insurance scheme and all the MasterBond policies have been put on hold.
March 2007 Successfully completed extension at Harcourt Drive, Earley, designed by our associate design company Excel Design Ltd.
February 2007 We are pleased to have received more enquiries this month than in any other previous month.
February 2007 Attended seminar on design of Potton Timber framed buildings.
January 2007 Successfully completed a large extension for a local Member of Parliament.

December 2006 After satisfactory completion of the extension at 33 Kensington Close Lower Earley we are particularly pleased with the way the extension blends in with the existing building, this is as a result of a sympathetic design by Excel Design Ltd.

September 2007 Received reply from head of MasterBond, saying he would carry out an investigation into the problems we have had with them and that he would let us know the outcome. We never received any report of any investigation, we can only assume that no investigation was carried out or they did not like the outcome! Read the full story here.
September 2007 MasterBond have not dealt with our complaint, they say they are under staffed and have a lot of new staff so wrote to their Director General to complain about the incompetence of their surveyor and efficiency of the MasterBond operation, but received no response.
